VISION

Coptic Lawyers Canada (CLC) brings together the Coptic community in Canada working and involved in the legal field. Whether lawyers, law students, judges, or others, our goal is to build a network of mentorship by fostering connections within the community and providing support to Copts in every Canadian city.

Our membership consists of over 100 lawyers, law students, and aspiring law students across the country. CLC operates legal clinics at local Coptic churches, providing assistance to those in need, and is actively present in law schools nationwide. Our members work to support our community and contribute to the broader Canadian legal landscape.

 MISSION STATEMENT

Coptic Lawyers Canada is committed to providing a platform whereby Coptic law students, lawyers, and others involved in the legal field can be connected and help each other grow, learn, and thrive.

We strive to serve our communities by providing accessible legal information, supporting the professional growth of our members, and increasing Coptic representation in the Canadian legal field.

You can find our constitution below for your reference and understanding of our guiding principles.

OUR LOGO

CLC Logo Transparent.png

Our logo represents the values and mission of our organization. At the heart of the design is a Coptic cross, a symbol of our Orthodox Christian heritage and dedication to serving with integrity.

Behind the cross, written in Coptic script, is the verse Romans 7:22: "For I delight in the law of God."

Together, the scales, cross, and script combine the three tenants of CLC: Justice, faith, and heritage.

Coptic Lawyers Canada was founded in January 2024 by a group of law students at McGill and Ottawa University, including Peter Soliman, Alan Bibawy, Steve Mansour, Immanuel Guindi, and Nathaniel Saad.

Inspired by their Coptic community and faith, they sought to create a platform where Copts in the legal world could support each other as many had done for them.

Recognizing a growing need for legal aid within the Coptic community, particularly for new arrivals to Canada, these students envisioned CLC as a platform to provide opportunities for Coptic lawyers and law students while benefitting the community at large. The first Coptic Legal Information Clinic was established in Montreal, offering services that reflect the Coptic values of justice, compassion, and love for one's neighbour.

Since its founding, CLC has grown to encompass over 100 members and now operates across multiple cities and law schools in Canada.
